SKOPJE, May 3 (Xinhua) -- The State Election Commission (SEC) is ready for the second round of presidential elections on Sunday, head of the SEC Oliver Derkovski confirmed at a press statement here on Friday.

According to Derkovski, all materials have been distributed to all election committees.

In total, "3,381 local observers, 520 foreign observers, 289 interpreters and 60 foreign journalists have been accredited," Derkovski told reporters.

Derkovski also said that 1,640 inmates, nearly 4,540 hospital patients and home-bound people and seven internally-displaced persons will exercise their right to vote on Saturday.

North Macedonia voters will return to polling stations on Sunday to decide who their future president.

The presidential candidates Stevo Pendarovski and his rival Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova came out as the top candidates in the first round held on April 21.

According to the results shown at the SEC website, Pendarovski got 42.8 percent of votes, while Siljanovska-Davkova came second with 42.2 percent.

During his electoral campaign under the slogan "Together Forward", Pendarovski, the candidate backed by the governing coalition, has firmly supported the Prespa (or Prespes) Agreement, which opened the country's doors to Euro-Atlantic organizations.

His rival Siljanovska Davkova, the candidate supported by the main opposition VMRO-DPMNE party, who has adopted the slogan "Justice for Macedonia" called Prespa Agreement as degrading and that it needs to be changed.

Under the Prespa (or Prespes) Agreement, which was signed at Prespes lake, the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) was renamed "Republic of North Macedonia".

Both candidates said they expected to win the votes of the undecided and disappointed people who abstained from voting in the first round.
