Osaka retains top place in WTA rankings

BERLIN, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Japan's Naomi Osaka continued to take the first place in the women's tennis rankings after Simona Halep lost in the Madrid Open.

Osaka has 6,356 points to rank first ahead of Romania's Romanian Halep, who has 6,117 points.

German player Angelique Kerber is in third place while Dutch player Kiki Bertens climbed up from seventh to a career-high fourth after beating Halep Saturday in the Madrid Open for her biggest career success.

Following are the WTA top 10 rankings (previous ranking in parenthesis):

2. (3) Simona Halep, Romania, 6,117
