HANGZHOU, May 14 (Xinhua) -- Customs authorities in Hangzhou, capital of eastern China's Zhejiang Province, Tuesday transferred to forest authorities a large number of ivory products they intercepted over the past few years.

A total of 2,200 boxes of ivory products and products made of other animals, weighing 863.69 kg, were transferred. The products included 789 kg of ivory, said Wang Li with Hangzhou Customs.

"The ivory products were intercepted during traveler checks or parcel inspections, as well as in crackdowns of various smuggling cases," Wang said.

China banned all domestic ivory trade at the end of 2017 as part of its commitment to protecting wild animals.
