BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese mainland spokesperson Wednesday criticized the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authority's attempts to obstruct and defame cross-Straits media exchanges, encouraging Taiwan media organizations aspiring to the development of cross-Straits relations to "walk tall."

Ma Xiaoguang, a spokesperson with the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, made the remarks in response to questions about the DPP authority's actions against Taiwan media representatives who attended the fourth Beijing Taiwan Media Forum held from May 9 to 12 in Beijing.

Noting that cross-Straits media exchanges have played important roles in promoting mutual understanding between the two sides, Ma said actions of the DPP authority and the separatist elements advocating "Taiwan independence" were out of fear that their schemes to sabotage cross-Straits relations would be exposed as compatriots across the Strait advance mutual understanding.

The DPP authority's actions against media that uphold justice, oppose "Taiwan independence" and advocate developing cross-Straits relations will be in vain, Ma said.

"Those media organizations should walk tall because good always triumphs over evil," he added.
