Tunisian security forces foil "terrorist plot": ministry

TUNIS, May 17 (Xinhua) -- Tunisian Interior Ministry on Friday said that security forces have thwarted a "terrorist attack" that was planned to take place during the holy month of Ramadan.

The security forces acted on intelligence tip-off about plans by a group called Oqba Ibn Nafaa Brigade to wage attacks on security and military units in the city of Kasserine, 270 km south of the capital Tunis, the ministry said in a statement.

"In this operation, the forces seized 11 anti-vehicle and anti-personnel mines, six car batteries, remote-control explosive device, more than 30 kg of explosives, electric detonators, a handgun and a walkie-talkie," it added.
