Tokyo stocks advance in morning on U.S. shares' gains

TOKYO, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced slightly Monday morning as investor sentiment was lifted by U.S. shares rising on the final trading day of last week.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 64.58 points, or 0.31 percent, from Friday to 21,181.80.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 5.69 points, or 0.37 percent, at 1,546.90.

Mining, electric power and gas, and oil and coal product-linked issues comprised those that advanced the most by the morning break.
