BEIJING, June 3 (Xinhua) -- China's box office revenue on June 1 soared to more than 358 million yuan (about 52 million U.S. dollars), up nearly 70 percent year on year, data from the China Movie Data Information Network show.

It crossed the mark of 300 million yuan for the first time on International Children's Day.

A wide range of animation films attracted tens of millions of moviegoers on the day and helped push Chinese film market to a new high after a cooling May.

Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment's action film "Godzilla: King of the Monsters" dominated Chinese mainland box office on June 1, taking in around 208.5 millon yuan.

It was followed by Japanese animation "Doraemon: Nobita's Chronicle of the Moon Exploration," which earned more than 67.54 million yuan on the release day.

Coming in the third was Disney's live-action "Aladdin," which grossed around 28.72 million yuan.

Other films screened for children included China-produced "Happy Little Submarine: Space Pals," live-action/animated film "Pokemon Detective Pikachu" and "Qiaohu and the Fantastic Flying Ship."
