Tokyo stocks advance in morning as U.S.-Mexico tariff concerns pass

TOKYO, June 10 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares advanced Monday morning as sentiment brightened after the United States indefinitely suspended slapping tariffs on Mexico in return for more stringent efforts to control illegal border crossings.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 226.67 points, or 1.09 percent, from Friday to 21,111.38.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, climbed 15.86 points, or 1.03 percent, at 1,548.25.

Textile and apparel, oil and coal product, and electric appliance-liked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
