French shares gain 0.48 pct on Tuesday

PARIS, June 11 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Tuesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.48 percent, or 25.95 points, to close at 5,408.45 points.

Of the 40 selected large companies, 31 gained in the day.

French multinational mirror manufacturer Compagnie de Saint-Gobain rose 2.68 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French tire manufacturer Michelin (CGDE) rose 2.57 percent and French multinational information technology service and consulting company Atos climbed 2.54 percent.

French multinational pharmaceutical company Sanofi lost 1.55 percent. French mass media conglomerate Vivendi lost 1.43 percent and French water and waste group Veolia Environnement went down by 0.85 percent. Enditem
