LUSAKA, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Zambian enterprises heading to China for the first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo should seize the opportunity to clinch strategic partnership with Chinese counterparts, a local industry body said on Wednesday.

The first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo will be held in Changsha, the capital city of central China's Hunan Province, from June 27 to 29.

The expo, to be held under the theme "Win-win Cooperation, Forging Ahead with the China-Africa Economic and Trade Relations", will focus on trade, agriculture, investment and financing, industrial parks, and infrastructure construction.

Michael Nyirenda, president of the Zambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry said it was important for Zambian enterprises to go to the expo with a strategic focus on how they can maximize benefits from the event.

"I hope our colleagues have sat down to strategize on how best they are going to benefit from the expo. It is important to plan on what you expect to get when attending these vents," he told Xinhua in an interview.

He said China was endowed with a lot of expertise in industrialization as well as technology which Zambian enterprises should tap into in order to promote industrialization through value addition.

According to him, African countries should endeavor to woo China enterprises to set up manufacturing bases on the continent.
