CAPE TOWN, June 12 (Xinhua) -- South African President Cyril Ramaphosa remains committed to fully cooperating with a probe into alleged violation of the Executive Ethics Code (EEC), his office said on Wednesday.

This came after Public Protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane informed Ramaphosa that he is being investigated for receiving an election donation of 500,000 rand (about 35,000 U.S. dollars) from Bosasa company in violation of the EEC.

Ramaphosa has received a notice in terms of the Public Protector Act with respect to an investigation into allegations of violations of the EEC, presidential spokesperson Khusela Diko said.

The president will fully cooperate with the Public Protector in the course of her investigation so as to ensure that this matter be speedily brought to conclusion, Diko said.

Mkhwebane has given the president until June 21 to respond to the allegations.

Bosasa, also known as African Global Operations, reportedly made the donation to Ramaphosa's campaign team in 2017 to fund his African National Congress (ANC) presidential campaign.

The DA accused Ramaphosa of failing to declare the donation which it said was "dirty money."

Ramaphosa insists that he was unaware of the payment.

Bosasa holds multi-million-rand government tenders and has also been linked to dodgy payments and security services for some Members of Parliament.
