SARAJEVO, June 12 (Xinhua) -- The body of a missing migrant was found on Wednesday in Cazin, a city located 330 kilometers northwest of Bosnia and Herzegovina capital of Sarajevo.

Members of Una-Sana Canton interior ministry found and pulled out the body of the migrant, who fell in River Una on Tuesday and did not emerge again, interior ministry spokesperson Ale Siljedic told Xinhua over the phone on Wednesday.

"The drowned migrant is 29-year-old Afghani named Hamid Nuri who resided in the temporary reception center for migrants located in Cazin," Siljedic added.

The divers have been searching for the body since Tuesday after the migrant's disappearance was reported by International Organization for Migrations (IOM) which manages the migrant reception center.

Autopsy will determine the cause of death.

At a regular session of BiH's Council of Ministers held in June, it was stated that from January 2019 until June 5 2019, a total of 9,081 illegal migrants were recorded by the country's Foreigners' Office.

A total of 8,466 migrants made the intention to apply for asylum during this period, but 196 actually submitted an application.

Most migrants come from Pakistan (36.3 percent), Bangladesh (9.2 percent) and Iraq (8.8 percent).

Hundreds of thousands of migrants passed through the so-called Balkan route in 2015, trying to reach Western Europe. BiH was then not part of that route. Enditem
