Chinese shares close lower Friday

BEIJING, June 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Friday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.99 percent, at 2,881.97 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.58 percent lower at 8,810.13 points.

The combined turnover of stocks in the two indices stood at 448.92 billion yuan (about 65.12 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 449.7 billion yuan the previous trading day.

Most stocks fell, with losers outnumbering gainers by 1,256 to 177 on the Shanghai bourse and 1,907 to 210 in Shenzhen.

Companies in the oil and electronics sectors were among the biggest losers.

Xinjiang International Industry Co., Ltd., a firm dealing oil and chemical products, lost 5.68 percent to 7.81 yuan per share, while Sinosteel Anhui Tianyuan Technology Co., Ltd., manufacturer of electronic devices, dropped by the daily limit of 10 percent to close at 16.79 yuan per share.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.75 percent to close at 1,453.96 points.
