SANAA, June 15 (Xinhua) -- A Saudi-led coalition fighting in Yemen launched an airstrike on Dhabab mountain east of the rebel-held capital Sanaa on Saturday, Houthi TV al-Masirah reported.

The rebels gave no further details. However, a statement by the Saudi-led coalition said the airstrike targeted rebels' air defences in east of Sanaa.

The coalition's attack came hours after the Saudi air defence intercepted bomb-laden drones over Abha city in southwest of Saudi Arabia.

On Saturday night, the Saudi TV Al Arabiya reported the interception of a ballistic missile over the sky of Abha.

Saudi Arabia has witnessed more drone attacks attempted by the Houthis recently. Houthi drone attacks last week wounded 26 people at Abha airport.

Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have been leading a coalition against the Houthis since March 2015 in support of Yemen's internationally-recognized President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.
