SOFIA, June 18 (Xinhua) -- Lighting has killed two men in Bulgaria in two days, Katya Sungarska, a spokesperson of the Center for Emergency Medical Services in the country's capital city, was quoted by local media as saying on Tuesday.
A 47-year-old man was struck by lightning while walking his dog on Monday evening in Sofia, Sungarska said in an interview with the Bulgarian National Television.
The paramedics arrived in eight minutes but despite their efforts he died soon, Sungarska said.
"I have never heard such a thing happen in the city, but unfortunately there is always the first time," she said.
The other man died on Sunday while fishing in Iskar Dam, the largest reservoir in Bulgaria, some 45 km southeast of Sofia, Sungarska said.
Lightning struck the 38-year-old man as he was taking his boat out of the water, and he died on the spot, Sungarska added.
