CAIRO, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The Egyptian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday that Egypt will chair a meeting of the foreign ministers of Sudan's regional partners in Ethiopia's capital Addis Ababa to discuss the ongoing Sudanese crisis.

"The meeting called for by Egypt comes within its efforts to coordinate regional visions that seek to provide a suitable environment, urging different Sudanese parties to resume direct negotiations," Egyptian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Ahmed Hafez said in a statement.

Sudan has been suffering a state of political stand-off since the military ouster and detention of former President Omar al-Bashir in April after four months of street protests.

Talks have failed so far to reach a power-sharing agreement between the temporarily ruling Transitional Military Council (TMC) and a coalition of protesters and opposition parties demanding a civilian-led administration as part of the country's transition to democracy.

The meeting of several African foreign ministers to be held on Thursday in Addis Ababa seeks to urge the Sudanese parties to resume dialogue "to reach an agreement on administering the transitional stage," said the Egyptian statement.
