Tokyo stocks advance in morning after Fed indicates rate cut possible

TOKYO, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks advanced Thursday morning, tracking gains on Wall Street overnight, after the U.S. Federal Reserve indicated it would cut interest rates if needed to deal with economic headwinds facing the country.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average added 130.23 points, or 0.61 percent, from Wednesday to 21,464.10.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, gained 4.97 points, or 0.32 percent, at 1,560.24.

Real estate, farm and fishery, and marine transportation-linked issues comprised those that gained the most by the morning break.
