Albania reports less road accidents

TIRANA, June 21 (Xinhua) -- The number of road accidents in the first five months of 2019 decreased by 11.5 percent year on year, registering a total of 583 accidents, the National Statistics Institute (INSTAT) reported on Friday.

According to INSTAT data, in the first five months of 2019, the number of casualties (injured or killed) by road accidents is 773, decreasing by 9.3 percent year on year.

In this period, 15.4 percent of road accidents occurred as a result of pedestrian behavior. The data showed that the number of road accidents occurred from pedestrian behavior decreased by 30.2 percent year on year.

Meanwhile, in the first five months, the number of victims from road accidents in Albania is 76, from 78 people in the same period last year.

According to INSTAT, in May, the number of road accidents decreased by 28.8 percent year on year, registering a total of 115 road accidents.
