MUSCAT, June 25 (Xinhua) -- Oman on Tuesday observed the Day of the Seafarer as the Ministry of Transport and Communications honored some outstanding sailors in the Sultanate, the Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.
Oman organized a ceremony under the auspices of Read Admiral Abdullah bin Khamis al-Raeesi, commander of the Royal Navy of Oman (RNO).
The ceremony included the launch of the Remote Vessel Monitoring System and e-system project for registering ships and issuing marine certification.
The Day of the Seafarer is organized on June 25 by the International Maritime Organization for honoring sailors worldwide.
