Israel to set up advanced-production national institute at cost of 9.81 mln USD

JERUSALEM, June 30 (Xinhua) -- Israel will set up an advanced production institute at a cost of 35 million new shekels (9.81 million U.S. dollars), the state's Ministry of Economy said on Sunday.

The Institute is established by the Ministry of Economy together with the Israel Innovation Authority, the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Science and Technology.

It will serve as a national center of advanced production and is expected to provide industrial enterprises with subsidized diagnostic and consulting services from the best experts in Israel and abroad.

The consulting services are planned to identify the methods and technologies that will lead to improved production processes, including advanced robotics, 3D printing, Big-Data, IoT (Internet of things), use of advanced materials and digitization of work processes.

The institute will also engage in the assimilation of technological innovation in production processes in factories to increase productivity and strengthen the competitiveness of Israeli industry worldwide.

The institute will also set up a knowledge center that will provide the industry with the world's knowledge base in the advanced production field and will strengthen the community around the various activities in Israel in the advanced manufacturing sector.

The institute will also operate a pilot infrastructure that will serve the its staff, industrial companies, entrepreneurs, researchers and more, for demonstrations, proofs of feasibility and development of various technologies.

The Institute will also work at the international level by establishing cooperation with research institutes, multinational corporations, investment funds and universities worldwide.

Three bodies will operate the institute. The first, Ort Braude College, located in the northern city of Karmiel, conducts applied research in robotics and trains engineers for industry.

The second is Tefen company (located in the center of Israel), which implements advanced manufacturing technologies in the industry.

The third is ESI (Expert Systems Industries) company, which develops technologies and solutions based on big data.
