BANGKOK, July 1 (Xinhua) -- China, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC), has made great achievements and has been contributing to world peace and prosperity, former Thai deputy Prime Minister Pinij Jarusombat has said.
Pinij, now chairman of the Thai-Chinese Cultural and Relationship Council, made the remarks in an interview with Xinhua ahead of the 98th founding anniversary of the CPC.
Pinij said he congratulated the party for its founding anniversary.
He praised the party for leading China from an impoverished country to a fast growing country.
Pinij said China now plays a significant role in international organizations and mechanisms such as the Group of 20 major economies, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and is an important force in promoting world peace and stability.
Pinij spoke highly of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative, saying China has been helping many countries in such fields as infrastructure development and capacity building.
He also praised China for holding the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilizations, noting that cultural exchanges would lead countries to understand each other, have less conflicts and cooperate.
