DUBLIN, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Ireland's June unemployment rate remained at a record low of 4.5 percent for the second consecutive month since June 2016, showed the statistics released by the country's national statistics bureau CSO on Tuesday.

In June 2019 the seasonally adjusted number of persons unemployed in the country stood at 109,700, down 30,500 from the June 2018 figure, said the CSO, adding that the unemployed in the month included 61,400 males and 48,300 females.

The June jobless rate for males was 4.7 percent, remaining unchanged from May 2019, and down from 6 percent in June 2018 while the jobless rate for females in the month was 4.3 percent compared to 4.2 percent in May 2019, and down from 5.7 percent in June 2018, it said.

The CSO figures also showed that the June youth unemployment rate, which refers to the jobless rate for people aged 15 to 24 years, stood at 10.1 percent compared to 10 percent in the previous month and 14.3 percent in June 2018.

Ireland's June jobless rate is an improvement of 11.5 percentage points from the peak of 16 percent during the financial crisis, said Irish independent economist Alan McQuaid, adding that the country's jobless rate is three percentage points lower than the current Eurozone's average of 7.5 percent.
