CAIRO, July 2 (Xinhua) -- Ghana beat Guinea Bissau 2-0 on Tuesday in their Group F Day Three clash in Egypt's Suez, securing a place at the knockout stage of the Africa Cup of Nations Egypt 2019.

Ghana's first win at the campaign saw them finish top of the group after Cameroon and Benin had a goalless draw in the other simultaneous kick-off in Ismailia.

Holders Cameroon, who finish second also on five points as Ghana join the latter at the round of 16.

Benin are third on three points and hunted one of the four best third place teams set for a place at the knockout stage.

The first half of Ghana vs. Guinea Bissau match was characterized by few chances from either side as both sides deployed a cautious approach. Both needed to win to be certain of a place at the next round but failed to break the deadlock in the first half.

Back from recess, Ghana broke the deadlock just a minute into the second half courtesy Jordan Ayew, with a curling shot that left Guinea Bissau goalie Jonas Mendes with no option.

Three minutes past the hour mark, Ghana goalie Richard Ofori was to his side's rescue with a superb save to deny Guinea Bissau captain Muhammad Cande, who unleashed a curler from a free-kick at the edge of the penalty area.

But the Black Stars responded in style eight minutes later when a three-man move involving Andre Ayew, Baba Abdul Rahman and Thomas Partey gave birth to the second goal.

Ghana will face Tunisia at Ismailia Stadium on July 8 at the round of 16 stage, while Nigeria and Cameroon will clash in Alexandria on July 6.

Benin and Morocco will play on July 5 at Cairo's Al Salam Stadium.

Also on Tuesday, Tunisia joined Mali into the last 16 from Group E after playing out a barren draw with Mauritania in their ultimate group match in Suez.

It was the third successive draw at the campaign as they finished second on three points, four shy of Mali who topped the group after beating Angola 1-0 in Ismailia.

With two points from their previous games, the Carthage Eagles needed to avoid defeat and hope the other result go their way, and they managed to achieved that despite a scrappy performance against a spirited Mauritanian side.

Mali will face Cote d'Ivoire on July 8 at Suez Stadium.
