Prado from Red Bull wins MX2 in 2019 MXGP in Indonesia

JAKARTA, July 7 (Xinhua) -- Crosser Jorge Prado from Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team on Sunday won MX2 sport category in the 2019 World Motocross Grand Prix (MXGP) taking place in Indonesia's South Sumatra province, local media reported.

Spanish crosser Prado from the Austrian team based in Italy collected 47 points with the fastest time of 33:40.277 in the 11th series of the MXGP, which started on Saturday and ended Sunday.

The second position was posted by his teammate Tom Vialle who secured 42 points with difference time of +0:06.767. Thomas Olsen placed the third place by securing 40 points.

With the termination of the MX2 session of the 11 series of the MXGP, Jorge Prado remains at the top position with 494 points collected, followed by Thomas Olsen with 443 points and Jago Geerts with 334 points.

The MXGP kicked off on Saturday at a-1.6 kilometer OPI circuit located in a compound near H.A. Bastari street in the provincial capital of Palembang.

A total of 18 countries have already sent their crossers to the sport event, as many as 20 crossers compete in MX1 sport category and 21 others in MX2 sport category.

Secretary of provincial administration Nasrun Umar said that the city hails the international sport event and looks to resume staging of such an event in the future.

Another Indonesian city of Semarang, the capital of Central Java province will have another opportunity to hold the 2019 MXGP from July 12 to 14.
