BEIJING, July 11 (Xinhua) -- The All-China Women's Federation (ACWF) held a symposium in Beijing to mark its 70th founding anniversary Thursday.
At the meeting, Shen Yueyue, president of the ACWF, made a speech summarizing the achievements China has made in the women's cause under the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the experiences of the work on women over the past seven decades.
Calling on women's federations to uphold the leadership of the CPC, Shen emphasized that they should maintain political integrity, think in big-picture terms, follow the leadership core and keep in alignment with the central Party leadership.
Shen also called on women's federations to have full confidence in the path, theory, system and culture of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
A commemorative exhibition of the history of the ACWF also opened in Beijing on Thursday.
The ACWF, founded in April 1949, is a mass organization that unites Chinese women of all ethnic groups and from all walks of life. It represents and upholds women's rights and interests and promotes equality between men and women.
