RIYADH, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Saudi-led coalition involved in a war in Yemen announced on Wednesday the interception of a drone launched from Yemeni Sanaa province that was heading to Saudi border city Jazan.
Turki Al Maliki, spokesman of the coalition, said in a statement on Saudi Press Agency that the three destroyed drones launched by Houthis were targeting civilian sites.
The coalition announced on Tuesday the interception of three drones from Amran province in Yemen launched towards Saudi border cities of Jazan and Abha, while on Monday the forces destroyed two drones in Yemen that targeted Saudi city of Khamis Mushait.
Maliki said that while the special envoy of the UN secretary-general to Yemen is in Sanaa, attempts by the Houthi militia continue to target civilians and civilian facilities, proving its criminality and extremist thought against the Yemeni people and neighboring countries.
