BUENOS AIRES, July 17 (Xinhua) -- Argentina international winger Eduardo Salvio arrived in Buenos Aries on Wednesday to finalize details of a move to Boca Juniors from Portugal's Benfica, according to multiple media reports.

Salvio underwent a medical at the Bombonera and was expected to sign a three-year contract on Wednesday evening, local daily La Nacion reported.

It added that Boca agreed to pay around seven million euros (7.8 million U.S. dollars) for the 29-year-old, who still had three years to run on his Benfica contract.

Salvio made 166 appearances for Benfica in Portugal's top tier following his 2010 move from Atletico Madrid. He has been capped 11 times for Argentina and was a part of the Albiceleste's 2018 World Cup squad in Russia.

Boca will return from Argentina's winter break next Wednesday with an away clash against Brazil's Athletico Paranaense in the Copa Libertadores round of 16.

Their first match of the 2019-20 Superliga Argentina season will be against Huracan at home on July 28.
