CAIRO, July 18 (Xinhua) -- FIFA President Gianni Infantino congratulated Egypt on Thursday for the successful organizing of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
"I congratulate Egypt for this great organizing of the Africa Cup of Nations, and for an incredible tournament," Infantino said during his attendance at the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Congress in Cairo.
Infantino emphasized that Egypt amazed the world with its magnificent infrastructure and perfect stadiums.
In January, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced that Egypt will host Africa's largest continental football tournament for the fifth time in its history.
The tournament was initially scheduled to be hosted by Cameroon. However, Cameroon was stripped of the right to host the tournament for serious delay in preparations.
Egypt won the bid over South Africa, as it obtained 16 out of 18 votes in favor.
The 2019 AFCON final will be held at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday between Algeria and Senegal, with the presence of Infantino.
