ASUNCION, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Paraguay will step up their preparations for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers with a friendly against Japan in September, the South American country's football association said on Thursday.
The clash will be staged in the Japanese city of Kashima on September 5, according to officials.
Paraguay are due to play six more friendlies before the South American zone qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup start next March.
Eduardo Berizzo's team last month reached the quarterfinals of the Copa America in Brazil, where they were eliminated by the hosts on penalties.
Japan and Paraguay last met in June 2018, when the Blue Samurai won 4-2 in Austria ahead of the World Cup in Russia.
