RABAT, July 19 (Xinhua) -- The Spanish government approved on Friday 30 million euros (33.6 million U.S. dollars) to help Morocco curb illegal immigration into Europe.

The grant comes in addition to the 140 million euros promised recently by the European Union to help Morocco fight against illegal immigration, said the Moroccan news website Le360.

Cooperation between Morocco and Spain has played a role in this year's nearly 27-percent drop in irregular immigration, it added quoting the Spanish Interior Ministry figures.

Two weeks ago, Spain approved another grant of 26 million euros to buy and deliver Morocco 750 vehicles, drones, scanners, radars and technical equipment for border control.

According to the Moroccan authorities, over 40,300 illegal immigration attempts have been foiled in the first six months of 2019.
