MUSCAT, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Oman on Sunday said it received an injured Iranian citizen from Saudi Arabia, according to an official statement by the foreign ministry.

"The Iranian is now in Muscat after he had received the necessary medical treatment in Saudi Arabia," read the statement.

The citizen is a crew member of an Iranian ship who was previously evacuated for medical reasons from a vessel off the Yemeni port of Hodeidah.

The Omani help came in response to a request from the governments of Iran and Saudi Arabia and upon personal instructions from Sultan Qaboos of Oman.

Saudi Arabia had said in June that it evacuated a crew member for medical reasons from a "suspect" Iranian ship northwest of Hodeidah after receiving a request for help from Tehran.
