Symposium held on governance capacity of Communist Party of China

BEIJING, July 23 (Xinhua) -- A symposium was held on the governance capacity of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Beijing Tuesday.

The attendees were press officers of embassies in Beijing, foreign journalists and those from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan.

At the symposium, Li Junru, former vice president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee, briefed the attendees on two cases focusing on CPC's efforts to launch targeted campaigns for poverty elimination and lead the Chinese people in winning the battle against poverty, as well as responding to natural disasters.

Li exchanged views with the participants on the relations between the CPC and non-Communist parties in the country, the state, society and law, as well as CPC's exploration on modernizing China's system and capacity for governance. He also answered questions from the journalists on law-based governance and other issues.

The symposium, the 130th of its kind, was organized by the All-China Journalists Association.
