TIRANA, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Albania's Central Election Commission (CEC) announced on Saturday the final results for June 30 local elections where Albanian citizens voted to choose mayors who will administer 61 municipalities across the country.

The final meeting of the CEC was accompanied by analysis and debates on June 30 electoral process.

At a press conference the CEC Chairman Klement Zguri said he could not give a passing grade for this process due to the low performance of the CEC.

"I believe that during this electoral process, between transparency and camouflage, legal standards and double standards, legality and arbitrariness, neutrality and clear political bias, the CEC, according to me, clearly chose the second one," Zguri said.

The legal representative of ruling-Socialist party Eridian Salianji praised the electoral process as "excellent."

During Saturday's meeting, four members of the CEC approved the final results of the elections, whereas Zguri voted against.

According to the final result, a total of 811,727 voters, or 22.96 percent, participated in June 30 local elections.

The Socialist Party candidates won in 60 municipalities, whereas one municipality was won by the candidate of MEGA, a minority Party.

Albania's main opposition Democratic Party and Socialist Movement for Integration, that boycotted elections, called June 30 local elections a "farce" as well as "illegal and unconstitutional."

Albanian President Ilir Meta also tried to cancel the local elections, which, according to him, would be undemocratic without the participation of the opposition parties.
