BUENOS AIRES, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Colombian midfielder Jorge Carrascal came off the bench to score a late equalizer as River Plate earned a 1-1 draw with Argentinos Juniors in their season-opening Superliga Argentina clash on Saturday.
Damian Batallini put the hosts ahead at Diego Maradona stadium with a powerful shot that deflected in off Matias Suarez.
Carrascal replaced Exequiel Palacios in the 80th minute and he found the net five minutes later with a first-time finish after Elias Lopez's cross from the right.
San Lorenzo also left it late as they secured a 3-2 home win over Godoy Cruz. Again, it was a substitute that made the difference, with Nicolas Blandi converting a stoppage-time penalty shortly after his introduction.
In other matches on Saturday, Patronato won 1-0 at Colon and Gimnasia la Plata drew 1-1 at Lanus.
Boca Juniors were due to kick off their campaign with a home fixture against Huracan on Sunday. Defending champions Racing Club started the season with a 0-0 home draw with Union on Friday.
