CARACAS, July 28 (Xinhua) -- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Sunday arrived in Venezuela's capital Caracas to take part in the 25th edition of the Sao Paulo Forum of progressive Latin American political parties.

Diaz-Canel said his participation also aimed to express his country's steadfast support for Venezuela's ruling party and embattled President Nicolas Maduro.

"Cuba has come to ratify its unconditional support for Venezuela and its Bolivarian Revolution at this forum," Diaz-Canel told reporters upon landing at the city's Maiquetia Simon Bolivar International Airport.

This edition of the forum aims to promote "the need to join together all of the leftist forces in Latin America and the Caribbean," he added.

Delegations of progressive political groups from other parts of the world, including Africa, Asia and Europe, took part in the three-day forum that opened here on Friday.
