BANGKOK, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Peru signed here on Wednesday the Instrument of Accession to the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) during the ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) foreign ministers' meeting and other related meetings.
Jaime Antonio Pomareda Montenegro, the deputy minister of External Relations of Peru, highlighted his country's commitment to strengthening relations and cooperation with ASEAN while attending the signing ceremony.
The TAC contains principles on promoting and sustaining regional peace and stability that was originally signed by the five founding members of ASEAN in 1976. It was subsequently open to all countries that have expressed their intent in enhancing their relations with ASEAN countries.
