Czech Republic not to extradite Russian banker: report

PRAGUE, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Czech Justice Minister Maria Beneshova has refused to extradite Alexander Bugaevsky, the former chairman of the board of Interkommerts Bank of Russia, who was accused of major financial fraud in Russia, to the Russian side, local media reported on Wednesday.

The Russian side was informed about this and the case is closed, according to the Czech Television CT 24 report.

Bugaevsky was detained by the Czech police in January 2018 on the basis of an international arrest warrant. In 2016, Russia opened a criminal case against Bugaevsky. He was accused of depriving the Interkommerts by more than a billion crowns (about 43.5 million U. S. dollars) Enditem
