PARIS, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- French right-back Djibril Sidibe on Wednesday joined Premier League side Everton on loan from Ligue 1 outfit Monaco for the 2019-20 season.

Sidibe, 27, is Everton's sixth signing of the summer. Everton have an option to buy Sidibe, France's triumphant World Cup member last summer in Russia, at the end of the campaign.

"I was very happy to hear a historic and big club like Everton was thinking of signing me," Sidibe told the club website. "It was very easy for me. I did not have to reflect for too long before making my decision to come here."

After joining Monaco from Lille in 2016, Sidibe became an integral part of the title-winning team in Ligue 1 during the 2016-17 season. He has contributed directly to 27 goals, scoring six, in 114 matches in all competitions for Monaco.

"Monaco wish him the best for this season 2019-20," read a statement from the Ligue 1 club.

"Everton are recruiting with the intent to win trophies and play on the biggest stage. I am 100 per cent motivated and ready to help the club achieve its goals and to achieve my own individual goals," Sidibe added.

For Everton's manager Marco Silva, "Djibril has fantastic experience, winning titles and playing many matches in a competitive league. He is a World Cup winner and he has the hunger to achieve much more in his career."
