BEIJING, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- The National Museum of China on Friday opened an art exhibition featuring some of the best Chinese revolution-themed artworks from the museum's collection.

The exhibited artworks consist mainly of paintings inspired by the historical moments of the Chinese revolution, including Chinese artist Dong Xiwen's renowned masterpiece depicting the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China (PRC).

The exhibition aims to showcase the visitors a panoramic view of the country's history of revolution recorded by artists' paintbrushes, from times of war to the founding of the PRC.

A number of revolutionary relics, including the national flag used at the founding ceremony and a cannon used for the ceremony's gun salute, are exhibited alongside the artworks.

The National Museum of China boasts a large collection of revolution-related relics, said Wang Chunfa, curator of the museum, adding that the museum will exhibit these relics at regular exhibitions in the future.
