RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Uruguay international midfielder Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored one goal and set up another as Flamengo beat Gremio 3-1 in Brazil's Serie A championship here on Saturday.
Willian Arao gave the hosts the lead at the Maracana by running onto Arrascaeta's deft chip and firing into the top left corner.
Rafael Galhardo equalized from the penalty spot just before halftime before Arrascaeta toe-poked in after Bruno Henrique's angled effort cannoned off the left post.
Everton Ribeiro put the result beyond doubt with a long effort in second-half stoppage time.
Earlier, former Brazil international striker Alexandre Pato netted two second-half goals to help Sao Paulo to a 3-2 home win over championship leaders Santos.
Meanwhile, Thiago Galhardo scored a hat-trick as Ceara secured a 4-1 home win over Chapecoense.
