SARAJEVO, Aug.12 (Xinhua) -- Bosnia and Herzegovina's (BiH) Federal Hydrometeorological Institute (FHMZ) on Monday issued a warning about the temperature up to 40 degrees Celsius in the southwest regions of the country.
The FHMZ said on its official website that Monday will be the hottest day this year with high temperature and very high Ultra Violet (UV) index. The institute has issued an orange warning for the territory of the whole country.
In its report, the FHMZ said that the air temperature in the country will vary from 33 to 40 degrees Celsius. A special warning was issued for the city of Mostar and the surrounding area, a famous tourist city, 130 km southwest of the capital Sarajevo, where temperatures will range from 36 and 40 degrees Celsius from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. CET.
Mostly sunny and hot weather is expected in the country on Monday and Tuesday, with weak wind blowing in east and northeast direction.
Local showers and thunderstorms are forecast for western, central and eastern areas on late Tuesday afternoon, with the highest daily air temperatures between 29 and 34 degrees Celsius, and, in the southern part of the country, from 35 to 40 degrees Celsius.
In the capital Sarajevo, very hot weather is expected on Monday, with rain on late Tuesday afternoon with temperature up to 30 degrees Celsius, FHMZ stated in the report.
The experts recommended people to avoid being in outdoors in the hottest periods of the day and to get enough water. It is advisable to wear light and airy clothing and to further protect the body when staying in the sun from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m..
