BEIRUT, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Ambassador to Lebanon Wang Kejian said on Wednesday that the Chinese government has been encouraging Chinese companies to cooperate with Lebanon in infrastructure projects.
"The Chinese government is encouraging Chinese companies to carry out mutually beneficial cooperation with Lebanon, hoping that Lebanon can create a fair and transparent business environment to facilitate the operations of Chinese enterprises in the country," said a statement by the Chinese Embassy in Lebanon.
Wang's remarks came during his meeting with Lebanese Minister of Energy and Water Nada Boustani.
Wang noted that Lebanon is in need for infrastructure projects, mainly electricity ones to which the Chinese companies can make major contributions.
For her part, Boustani said Lebanon welcomes Chinese companies to participate in infrastructure projects in Lebanon.
"The Lebanese are well aware that Chinese enterprises have rich experience in construction and advanced engineering skills," she said.
The Lebanese minister noted her ministry is willing to continue sharing information with China for Chinese companies to be updated on the projects in Lebanon.
Lebanon is looking forward to more training and cooperation in areas such as water conservation, Boustani added.
