COLOMBO, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Twenty-two passengers were injured when a passenger bus collided head-on with a private van in Sri Lanka's North Central Province on Friday, the police said.
The passenger bus belonging to the state-owned Central Transport Board, which was travelling to the capital Colombo from eastern city of Trincomalee, collided head-on with a van in Digampathaha, injuring a majority of the passengers.
The drivers of both vehicles also sustained injuries.
The injured were rushed to nearby hospitals.
Police are conducting further investigations.
