Profile: Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov

BEIJING, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov is scheduled to pay an official visit to China from Tuesday to Thursday at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang.

Born in Tashkent on May 24, 1961, Aripov is an electrical communications engineer with a master's degree in economics. He graduated from Tashkent Electro Technical Institute of Communication, the precursor of Tashkent University of Information Technologies.

He started his career as a telecommunications engineer at the Tashkent telegraph-telephone station from 1983 to 1992. He later worked at the Ministry of Communications and the Post and Telecommunications Agency.

Aripov served as deputy prime minister from 2002 to 2012. He was reappointed as deputy prime minister in September 2016 and became prime minister in December that year.

Aripov is married and has five daughters.
