BUENOS AIRES, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Bayer Leverkusen forward Lucas Alario has been drafted into Argentina's squad for friendlies against Chile and Mexico next month, the South American country's football association said on Monday.

The 26-year-old, who has made six international appearances, has not represented the Albiceleste since their 6-0 friendly win over Singapore in July 2017.

Argentina's 27-man squad includes seven uncapped players: Leonardo Balerdi (Borussia Dortmund), Nicolas Figal (Independiente), Nicolas Dominguez (Velez Sarsfield), Lucas Ocampos (Sevilla), Lucas Martinez Quarta (River Plate), Alexis Mac Allister (Boca Juniors) and Adolfo Gaich (San Lorenzo).

The two-time world champions will face Chile in Los Angeles, California, on September 5 and Mexico in San Antonio, Texas, five days later.

The fixtures will be the Albiceleste's first outings since they defeated Chile 2-1 in the Copa America third-place playoff in Sao Paulo, Brazil, on July 6.

Head coach Lionel Scaloni has said he will use the matches to fine-tune the team's preparations for the South American Football Confederation's (CONMEBOL) 2022 World Cup qualifying tournament, which starts next March.
