THE HAGUE, Sept. 3(Xinhua) -- Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte stressed the importance of showing solidarity with nations at the forefront of migration, here on Tuesday.

The words came after Rutte met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis who finished a series of meetings with European leaders over the past week.

The Dutch PM's discussed issues included those like economic developments in the European Union, economic cooperation and the refugee crisis. After the meeting of around half an hour, the two leaders gave a joint press conference.

"Migration was and is a European problem," Mitsotakis said. "It is important to show solidarity with countries at the forefront of migration," Rutte added.

Mitsotakis added that his government wants to open the door to foreign investments. "I am convinced he will succeed in that," Rutte reacted.

Since the beginning of July this year, Mitsotakis, leader of Greece's conservative New Democracy party, is the new Greek prime minister. Over the past week he met with among others German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron in a tour around Europe.
