ISTANBUL, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- A vertical wind tunnel is drawing massive interest from locals and tourists alike who love "free-flying" at the center of Istanbul.
The huge steel platform with a jet propeller at the bottom has transformed the iconic Taksim Square on the European side of the city into a carnival area.
Flyers accompanied by specialists are lifted to four to five meters in the air by high airpower produced by the propeller.
Wearing special-made suits and helmets, the enthusiasts are enjoying the flying experiences for about three minutes to loud pop music.
The event is organized as part of Teknofest Istanbul, Turkey's aerospace and technology festival that kicks off on Sept. 17 this year.
