GAZA/JERUSALEM, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Sirens sounded on Wednesday night in southern Israel after several rocket-propelled grenades were fired at the Zikim area from the Gaza Strip, the Israeli army said.
The firing rockets came after the Israeli war jets attacked a military post which is known as Askalan belonging to Islamic Hamas movement in northern Gaza Strip with no injuries reported.
According to security sources and local media reports in Gaza, Israeli pilotless drones struck on Wednesday night military training camps and facilities that belong to Hamas armed wing al-Qassam Brigades.
The sources said that the Israeli airstrikes were carried out on a Hamas military camp in the west of the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahia, adding that more strikes were waged on military facilities in central Gaza Strip.
No injuries were reported, according to the sources, adding that several explosions were heard in northern and central Gaza Strip.
The Israeli airstrikes were in retaliation to an earlier rockets attack that was carried out on Wednesday afternoon from the Gaza Strip into southern Israel with no one claiming responsibility.
However, Israel blamed Hamas and its militants for being behind the recent rockets launching from the Gaza Strip into Israel.
