HANOI, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam respects the "one country, two systems" principle and relevant regulations, and hopes the situation in China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) will return to normal soon, a Vietnamese spokesperson said on Thursday.

Spokesperson of the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang made the remarks when answering Xinhua's questions about the recent situation in Hong Kong.

"Vietnam hopes Hong Kong to continue to be stable and prosperous and maintain its status as an important financial and trade center of the region and the world," Hang said.

Vietnam wants the economic, trade, and tourism activities between Vietnam and Hong Kong to be boosted, she said, adding that Vietnam in particular and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in general have fine relations with Hong Kong in terms of economy, trade, investment and tourism as well as people-to-people exchanges.
