CAIRO, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah al-Sisi announced on Thursday a presidential pardon for 237 prisoners, the interior ministry reported in a statement on its Facebook official page.
The Prison Sector of the Egyptian Ministry of Interior has also conditionally released 475 prisoners, the statement said.
The decree came on the occasion of the Islamic Sacrifice Feast came in early August.
Usually, the president issues a decree for pardoning prisoners on public holidays and feasts, including two religious Muslims feasts, holy month of Ramadan and the July 23 Revolution anniversary.
